So...yeah. This is the end of an era for me. As of my 40th birthday (which happens tomorrow), "Sage Freehaven" — the name and the persona — is officially retired.
...mostly.
I've spent a shade over twenty years of my life as "Sage Freehaven" to some extent. From the day I created him (the 17th of September 2000) to today, I've been connected to that name and persona. VCL, FurAffinity, IRC rooms, Tapestries MUCK, Fchan, TGFB...all those and more have been part of my life and my time in the furry community. It hasn't all been good, sure. But I do have some fond memories, such as they can be.
My 40th birthday has given me pause to re-evaluate my life from the ground-up. And as much as it pains me to say so, "Sage Freehaven" isn't that big a part of my life any more. So now seems like the perfect time to say "bye-bye" to Sage and retire the name and the persona. I may come up with a new fursona in the future, who knows. But this one no longer connects with me and who I am.
When I said this is a "mostly" retirement, it's because I have two exceptions. One is Tapestries; "Freehaven" will remain there until and unless I decide otherwise. The other one is obviously FurAffinity; I'll keep using this name through at least the end of 2023, then deactivate (but not delete) this account.
In any case: I'm reachable on the Fediverse at @Stephen_Stone@chitter.xyz and Discord at @regular_mouse. I now lurk on Picarto as RegularMouse, too. Feel free to drop me a message if you want to catch up with me, yell at me for being a basic bitch, or whatever fits between those two options.
So! That's it. I bid "Sage Freehaven" an eternal farewell (in spirit, if not [yet] in complete practice). I guess there's nothing left for me to say except the obvious, one last time:
