Was watching the Underdog serial The Flying Sorcerers for some reason --- you can see it at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5ue8AUwngw --- and was caught first by the design of the Flying Sorcerers. And by their easy way with transformation, such as here, turning Underdog into a ball. (Earlier in the story they turn one alien into a tree and another into a cow, in their search for decent cake.) That action happens at about 8:50 in the video. But it carries on, as for the next two episodes he briefly gets into shape, but keeps reverting to being a ball. So I wanted to draw that.
Prince Bric and Prince Brac, the Flying Sorcerers here, are surprisingly gratifying. (I made them a little different from the original animation since I'm not under budget constraints to use the same model or anything.) I think this is the first time I've drawn someone as an orb, too. I think we're supposed to take it that Underdog's inanimate as a ball but the animation of the era's limited enough that this isn't clear. He seems to take it pretty impassively when he falls into a women's volleyball match, for example.
That space background was fun to draw too and let me fiddle with some of the weird effects on Procreate.
