The I-3s do have balance problems. You would think that setting the crankshaft angle at 120° they would be stable, but the center piston seems to have harmonic issues with the end cylinders. Wikipedia has a decent refresher here -- and it includes a list of cars and bikes so equipped.

Yeah I know about the balance issues with triples. GM came out with two new 3 cyl engines this year (of very similar displacement 1.2/1.3L but of completely different designs in the same vehicle) and those little things shake like crazy idling. They've got some super soft engine mounts or something so you don't feel them running. But even 4 cyl engines have their balance issues that usually you can get away with doing nothing on smaller ones but larger ones need balance shafts otherwise they'll vibrate insanely like my brother's old Mitsubishi Eclipse with a broken balance shaft belt.
