This is as far back as I've been able to connect this to previous art, but I have the feeling that something even further back inspired the original choice of Pokémon trio.

Well sometimes when you've been enjoying yourself in the stomach, fleshy slimy walls and goop sensually all around and massaging you, you want to re-experiance the sensation of being swallowed again by seeing or imagining/remembering it, or see a depiction of someone else enjoying themselves or just being in the stomach, connecting through similar experiance.
