This little bastard is why I posted so infrequently on here.

Long story short, I received a lovely comment on an older reference of his that I stated was "out of date" by the time I finally uploaded it. My art style is constantly changing. So, I can often become bored of a design I made or a way I draw very quickly (Sakura changing designs within 8 hours is an especially infamous example of this).

I was already on the fence with and going through the process of testing a new design for him that would look more "Tanuki-ish". I later receive a comment that... well... made me upset. It sped up the process. I think what they said was a bit rude and uncalled for, but I hope my rash decision was for the best.

I ended up giving him more fluffy, pointed cheeks, more fluff around the collar, like his Detective AU incarnation, a more detailed hairstyle and face, basically. Where I can tell it's him, but he looks more like MY style for once. This looks like a character from a film, not my 15-year-old deviantART OC!

I did other things, like change his claw color (dark claws on a dark colored canine?? Stupid.), made him semi-feral versus the pseudo-anthro anime-esque look from before, a more canine-like muzzle, and most importantly, I changed his hair color!!! I started to hate the old color so much... He can dye it different colors, but that's the new natural color!

As I said in the last picture, it was a small update, not much. I love his new design, it's much better!

This is just part 1 of the full ref. I always go all out on my fursonas' refs for good reason. It's going to take a minute, but it'll be done sooner or later. No promises of time or date.

It's why I took so long. Posting anything I made after this to keep up a "schedule" would have ruined the surprise. So, to avoid posting things out of order (something I take very seriously), I held up everything until this was done. Ironically, I quickly drew the accessories at the bottom (and I forgot to change the bow, so the tie is crooked, just ignore it tdgfdfhhgghhvg) and once THOSE were done, I was set! So, we're back on schedule again!
