Oil on canvas 70cm x 1M
This painting is inspired by the western association of the wolf with death, and symbolises this connection from an anthropocentric view. I'll be discussing this subject in more detail soon on my YT channel --> https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCh.....-Tyql_R0Wt3wnQ
The (now usual) exclusive F/A text:
This image is my life. Wolves and death have both featured heavily in my adult life, and this scene is how I see my personal journey in the past, present and future. The symbolism in this painting reflects both the inevitability of our mortality and a strong, half-realized desire to escape its constraints, all the while battling against a stronger and overwhelming force which breaks apart the path we would wish to choose. ("When you realize that your life is a one-way road | When you realize that there's no point of return | When you understand that you can't go back anymore | When you understand you can only move onwards"). It's been over a year now since I closed the door on the idea of Therianthropy with nothing more than a tattoo, and although I continue to be open minded, the desire to encourage and educate others to coexist with and respect other forms of life is, I feel, a natural evolution of the beliefs that once introduced me to the saddening state of this wondrous and fragile biosphere we inhabit.
