Hardly any Skaven performs legitimate practices or rises fairly to their position of power. For Zarlack, he is the prime example of a rat who truly cheats others and 'cuts corners', as the saying goes. He is often hailed by his superiors for turning a profit by the sheer amount of Skryre weaponry and vile, destructive machinery. From warpfire throwers to ratling guns. From jezzails to even poison wind mortars, there was nothing that Zarlack couldn't make and oversee in terms of mass-production. However, many of his weapons- or rather, almost every single one of them was prone to malfunctioning in horrible, life-ending ways. Of course, Zarlack shrugged it all off, claiming it to be cases of 'user error' among the lesser denizens and ranks of Skaven society. After all, how could anyone blame him, a prestigious Warlock Engineer? So sure of himself he is that he even had the gall to insult and even shout at Krashak, the seer of Clan Moulder, to leave his work compound, saying that Moulder rats were not welcome. However, during that moment there was a lab compound explosion that snagged Zarlack's attention away, and enabled Krashak to steal a few important and rather incriminating documents that could damage Zarlack's station and position in the Under-Empire. With the threat of being blackmailed, and his secret of his purposeful error in making weapons faulty for the sake of cheap mass-production for money on the verge of being set loose, Zarlack had no choice but to bend a knee to Krashak...and give up something very important as well...
