Ehllum
Kobold - half white dragon
Sorcerer
One day, Ehllum was tidying up his master’s icy lair, hoping that large prey, such as a caribou, would be found after a week long stretch of having to hunt for himself and only managing two young rabbits. Hours dragged on before the familiar beating of the wings returned on the air, but something was wrong, the beats uneven. As Ehllum rushed to the entrance of the cavern, he could see his master’s once lustrous white scales stained crimson. Several deep, crisscrossed gashes made themselves known on the dragon’s belly as he descended, crashing into the snow just before the lair.
Ehllum hurried to go find anything that could quell the bleeding, finding multiple tattered caribou hides to desperately bandage his master. With bleary vision he listens for the dragon to say something, anything. But as the nature of white drakes, the male stays silent save for the ragged, weakening breaths. The kobold, now thoroughly coated in the icy blood, doesn’t notice his body changing. He discards the blood-soaked hides after the futile attempt and goes to sit near his master’s head, his small hands gently stroking along the snout to a weak rumble of disapproval as the drake’s gaze starts to fade.
Within ten minutes, the dragon’s heart beats for the final time. Ehllum, far too weak to move the body, is forced to leave it outside the lair, sitting beside the deceased for hours, mind racing. Eventually he stands and enters the drakes cave before returning with a small dagger in hand. He searches the deceased beasts side for a scale that’s still pure white and carefully digs it out from amongst the others. A small strip of leather is able to turn it into an amulet that he fastens around his neck.
Another retreat into the cave and Ehllum grabs a hooded cloak, a satchel, and a loose diamond that was not trapped in the large mound of ice that encased the dragon’s trove. With a final visit to the massive drake’s head, a final brush along the smooth scales before Ehllum turns in the direction the drake had flown back from determined to find answers.
