My mind still hasn't been changed, unfortunately.
I find this to be quite underwhelming.

The shoulder appendages, the face, and the claws in the model department are fantastic, but that's where it ends.
The physique is the usual male build template, the colour palette is lacking with very boring patterns, nothing really to help him stand out from the other non-generic characters you've made.

I'm shocked that although he is fused with many species, his colour palette is almost singular.
Coated in green, with a bit of red, and a tiny hint of blue on the side of the neck it seems.

We've seen the colours, details, and attachments you've been able to do on your previous characters.


Alma, for example: fittingly washed out and natural colours, good placement of where the light and dark is. And she comes with clothing and quite bulky shackles that give her that obvious "specimen lose" vibe.

Meanwhile, with Alpha: he doesn't seem to even have any accessories, left with only his boring base colours, and his minimum price is the exact same as Alma.

I'm sorry, but this is one character that I think should definitely get some more TLC from you.
The potential is there.

That’s a bit of a stretch isn’t it? Despite what ya may think. They still put their time into it. Honestly its nice of them to only charge $10! They could charge more if they really wanted too, when you really think of it.

I like to think, its not just the model you pay for. You’re also paying for the time they put into making it. $10 is pretty generous when there are people who charge up to $20 to $6000 for a model asset. You have to sculpt/model, retopologize it, UV unwrap, texture, rig it, make SFM ports. All that can usually take a few weeks to literal months!

Is this model worth $10? Doesn’t matter really, it just comes down to the artist’s price is and how much someone is willing to spend in the end.
Just let Petruz do what he wants dude. Its not like they’re selling a broken product anyway.

I hope you're right, because I'm worried that this may end up a waste of time for poor Petruz.

I'm well aware of the time and effort it takes to make a model, as I have tried making some myself.
Which makes it all worse if all that work becomes forgotten because it ends up being overshadowed by previous ones that are arguably more appealing.

In my eyes, with the price, he should increase the minimum price of his previous ones that have more than just the base model attached to it, not to mention they just seem like they had a lot more time to bake. Even the generic/unnamed ones at least have clothing or alternate textures.
This guy, though, has only one skin, and no accessories going for him.

It also doesn't help that we know that Petruz starts off with a template, which results in most of the body builds of the males and females becoming somewhat samey as time goes on.

Usually there are body flexs to compensate that.
But when the set of flexs for SFM are so minimum they don't even have an "eye_widen" flex, I'm not really holding my breath.

Seriously, though, I don't really see how one can ignore how little you get for Alpha here.
Look at the amount of options and accessories you get from his previous bundle, the Rat Clan.
I personally really love how the clothing stands out in that one.
Makes sense why their minimum price is $15.
Personally, I think it should be just a little higher with how much you are getting out of that one.

Agape's skin pattern around her chest seemed quite repetitive/boring, but everything else about her definitely is quite appealing, along with her regal attire and effects.
And she is free.

And THEN the Ox clan.
Once again it's a bundle, it's not a singular character, there's plenty of alternate skins and accessories.

Again, good intentions aside, Alpha is competing with those previous submissions which give a lot.
Alpha here is on his own with no alternates or accessories, and nothing that really makes him stand out.
He has the same muscular build as every single male, his patterns don't seem fascinating, and his color palette (despite being fused with different creatures) seems like a missed opportunity with how minimum it is.
However, his face, claws, and shoulder appendages are by far the best thing about him.
Absolutely ferocious and unique, I just wish that same love was put into the rest of him, then I would be happy to buy him.
Especially since I'm a sucker for creatures like this, the same way how most are a sucker for the Xenoms, the Zerg, and/or the Tyranids.

But unfortunately... I just don't really see what I could do with him to make him stand out.
One layer of detail that I think he should've definitely had, is a selfillum_mask pattern on his body. Maybe his red markings? Just something that helps him pop out a bit more.

And since Petruz is accustomed to reusing templates, I think he should use pieces of Almas shackled accessories and have them fit around him.
I mean this creature was created by Amelia, or at least in her lab, it would make sense in this case for the accessories to be quite similar, if not the same.
And that way, he would also have accessories going for him, and you wouldn't have to buy Alma to put the accessories on him.

At the end of the day, when I look back at the submissions I've made with models, modified, or made from scratch by others, I find myself feeling bad that so far I seem to have only used a few of his models, despite the large library of characters he already has.
The wolf, Dasha, and Hammerhead.

With my favorite animation being with one of his generic models, the Bird model from the bird pack, which I used for the submission "Hugin's trial"

Maybe hopefully in time I will see a use for Alpha, but I won't be buying him in advance like I have with Petruz other creations which I know I will most definitely have use for later in the future.

Maybe when I do decide to buy him, I'll do my own modifications.
I may be an amateur at texturing, but I know a trick or two on how to add patterns.
I mean- I manage to create Blues texture and her pack from Jurassic World before releasing them to the public, and now even  max_tony uses them. (Hell he's even using her as his profile pic right now at the time of this comment)
Furthermore, I'm sure I could make something with Alpha, given the time and motivation.

Until then, I hope Petruz still gets plenty of buyers and this guy gets some use.
From the looks of it,  ConnivingRat and  maicakswilbrn are already interested, so maybe that's enough, and my opinion is invalid.

I really need to learn to shut my mouth at times, but there are times when I get too passionate and feel the need to express my opinion... Even though I'm bad at doing it in a few sentences.

Like I said, I am a sucker for aliens and hybrids, and this is like an original IP of a Zerg/Tyranid hybrid.
This is part of the reason why I felt the need to speak up about this.

And don't be afraid to look up some inspirations, especially on patterns.

On the contrary, I prefer it when people make what they want, because that's when their true passion shines, unlike others that put money before hobbies and interests.
This isn't the case.

My concern right now is quality and even quantity compared to the previous character submissions.

I just personally think he should experiment a little more on this character if he's willing, because as it stands right now, it hasn't got much quality or even quantity compared to its previous submissions.
And I was looking forward to this character, as his silhouette loosely resembles the idea of something like an anthro Zerg or Tyranid, fictional creatures that I am "passionate" about.
And when I saw the final result, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed.

Again, do not mistake my criticism as an attempt to destroy someone's passion.
In fact, I wish I got some criticism myself on my works, because right now I'm starting to feel a little blind and uncertain if I'm lacking in an area I need to improve.
Until then, the least I can do is offer my own to someone I respect.

I love seeing all of the new characters and packs with the mini backstories behind them.

However when i look at the catalog of your previous model packs, Wolves, Bats, Snakes, Lizards.

The cats are the odds one out and i would really love to see them get an upgrade sometime soon.
