Personality: Passionate, warm, but prone to recklessness. He is a nurturing person who still has a destructive side he occasionally loves to indulge in, going over the top at times. But he does his best to ensure no one innocent is caught in the blaze, and does his part to ensure growth can come about of his actions. In other words, he is fire in all it's best and worst aspects, kept in check by his will.

Abilities:

Melody of Fire: The ability to manipulate fire, in all it's forms, in any way possible, limited solely by the strength of one's willpower and imagination. Knowledge of how fire works and it's capabilities will further enhance what one can do. New types of fire may be Created with this power, but the more unusual and new it is, the more willpower it costs. A greater understanding of the chemical reactions behind fire and how things burn can reduce this cost. This ability cannot be restricted by outside forces, as it is repeating the act of fire's Creation at the dawn of time. Consequently, the user has a strong affinity for fire and fire-based magics or other forces, but solely that element. The user is also utterly immune to fire and heat.

Flight: Hot Spot achieves this power by either producing enough concentrated flame to propel him, or imparting on himself the "weight of flame." He dislikes using the latter for extended periods however, as it increasingly makes him feel disconnected from the world.

Formlessness: An ability that grants invulnerability to physical threats. Hot Spot can achieve this by imparting on himself the "mass of flame" or by transforming himself into either a form of smoke or fire. Both of which can render him impervious to even most magical threats not meant specifically to harm those things. He primarily uses the "mass of flame" state so he can maintain his physical appearance, as turning into fire or smoke for prolonged periods makes him feel like he might loose memory of what he once was.

Clear Melody: As a Refrainer, Hot Spot has a metaphysical advantage against Outer Beings and Outer Gods, as he bears a "clear melody" resonating in his soul, unlike them who have a discordant, incomplete melody in them. He also has immunity to sonic based hypnosis and other forms of mental and spiritual interference that require sound in any form to work.

Weaknesses: Hot Spot, like most Refrainers, can be considered a "one trick pony." He is excellent with fire, but unless he specifically creates fires that can burn even under conditions they normally can't, they can be extinguished in the normal manners. He is also limited to how much willpower he possess, as using his power takes a mental toll on him. The more elaborate, the larger the scale, and the more outside the box he goes, the more it costs him as well. Should he overexert himself, he will fall unconscious for anywhere up to several hours to days.

If pushed in the right way, his temper can get the better of him, causing him to go all out in a rage, burning out faster. His powers also require him to will them into existence, thus if he is distracted, or his mind clouded or controlled, he cannot use his powers. His recklessness can similarly be turned against him.

Finally, though he will never admit it to anyone but his partner and one other person, he enjoys physical contact and his mind being assailed. Getting him into close-quarters-combat will highly likely make him focus solely on you unless something else extremely important happens, and mentally assailing him has a high chance of success unless lives are in danger.

Profile: Born to an average family, Jack had a mostly normal life growing up. The only thing that truly set him apart was an affinity he felt for flames, and given his father was a firefighter, aspired to be the same. Around his high school years, he finally awoke to the Melody within him when an accident in chemistry class occurred. What should have been a fatal explosion instead did him no harm, and he even stopped a classmate from burning alive as he willed the fire to stop. Now finally aware of what he could do, he experimented fully with what he could possibly do in secret for several years.

Eventually, he choose to make a living as a freelance artist, while taking up a super heroic persona. Advent City, ever a place of peril, welcomed Hot Spot as he introduced himself putting out an apartment fire the Fire Department were having trouble dealing with, and eventually bringing the perpetrators to justice, and cemented himself in the public's affection by assisting in evacuations during a giant robot attack, and even using the positive aspects of fire to heal those in need.

Soon after, he met his future boyfriend and co-hero Frost Horn, and the two have since become iconic members of Advent City's defenders.
