Name: Arrick Winters
Codename: Frost Horn
Gender: Male
Orientation: Gay
Species: Goat/Aes Sidhe (Winter Court)
Age: 26
Personality: Curious, playful, pragmatic, and sometimes domineering. He has the unusual temperaments of the Winter Court in him, but has never lost sight of the mortal parts of him that love, crave connection, and abhor harm coming to those he cares for. Embodying the best and worst of the season, he can be cold and unforgiving, even brutal. But his heart and his love for Hot Spot anchor him from going too far. Thanks to this, Frost Horn also encourages community, celebration of life, and standing united against the worst the world can throw at someone.
Abilities:
Heir of Winter: As one brought into and being made a part of the Winter Court, Frost Horn wields an innate command over ice magic that few mages can match, allowing him to instinctively use it for a considerably lower mana cost. His role as a duke of the court's heir has also given him a measure of Authority over winter as well, allowing him to do such feats as calling in a blizzard or snowstorm in general that could blanket an entire city. However, his adopted father can prevent this at will, and the present season also controls the potency of his Authority. Naturally, he possesses an immunity to ice, snow, and cold unless it is used against him by someone with an Authority greater than his own.
Faerie Soul: Having been adopted into the Winter Court soon after his birth, while Frost Horn was born a mortal, his nature more and more becomes one of the Aes Sidhe. This grants him a massive pool of mana and reduces his cost when casting spells, to miniscule amounts when using ice magic. This has also granted him superhuman strength, stamina, endurance, and a resistance to mental manipulation due to his mind working differently. The more Fae he becomes, the stronger this ability becomes in turn.
Formlessness: An ability that grants invulnerability to physical threats. By tapping more into his growing Fae nature, Frost Horn can become a winter storm incarnate, rendering him invulnerable to threats not specifically designed for that form. However, he dislikes using this ability as it speeds up the process of him becoming one of the Aes Sidhe proper.
Weaknesses: As someone more of the Faerie Courts than the mortal realms, Frost Horn is gradually more and more weak to Cold Iron, though at present it merely makes him nauseous and strips him of his Authority. Said Authority is also dependent on the season of the location he tries to invoke it. It's potency is at it's strongest during the Winter Solstice, and at it's weakest during the Summer Solstice.
His love for Hot Spot can be manipulated by putting him in danger, as Frost Horn will split focus on protecting his boyfriend if not outright abandon what he was doing to save him. His callous, more Wintry side can come to prominence as well, making it harder for him to work with others as he becomes more like a hunter or a brutal Fae, just barely held in check by his mortal half and his beloved.
Finally, his curiosity can be turned against him by luring him into places of danger with a promise of some new experience his Fae nature can't resist. Though this in turn has the danger of him returning the peril on his enemy, but worse.
Profile: Born on a cold and stormy winter's night, Arrick Winters had the misfortune of inheriting a genetic heart disorder that would spell his doom not long after he was born. His mother, desperate to save his life, begged for someone to save him, and something answered. A handsome, well-dressed man came to her as she held her son, and introduced himself for who he was. A duke of the Winter Court he was, and he had the power and means to ensure her son would survive. He too needed a son, for he had no heir to call his own. And so the deal was made: He would save her son's life by making him a Faerie, but the boy would have to live with him.
Desperate to ensure her child's survival, the mother agreed, and wept as her son was taken into the night. Years passed, and the Duke proved to be a good father, insofar as a high ranked noble of the Winter Court could be. Arrick was raised to be strong in mind and body, able to navigate and manipulate the politics of his new home. As the Duke was not without empathy, he allowed Arrick and his mother to communicate on the nights of the full moon via a magic mirror, when the mortal and supernatural realms were closer together. On winter full moons, the winter solstice, and certain winter holidays they could even visit one another and meet in person, ensuring he still had her love as he grew.
Finally, the time came for Arrick to visit the mortal realm on a more long-term basis, to learn of mortals personally and how the world worked. Fortunately for him, his father deposited him in Advent City, to serve as a solid example of the good mortal-kind were capable of as much as the bad. It was there that he saw superheroes in action, as much as he saw supervillains and regular villains at work. Recalling the things his mother had taught him when they could communicate, Arrick choose to try and be a good person by the standards of mortals, and took up the persona of Frost Horn.
It was during an attack by a giant mutated beast that he met his boyfriend, Hot Spot, saving him from being consumed by the monster with his wintry powers, and the two combined their powers to stop it altogether. The duo met again and again, until Hot Spot gave Frost Horn something he'd been lacking: A home. The two now live together, and Arrick wants to spend as much as his life with Jack as possible, as he savors the warmth the fiery hero brings into his life.
