One of two illustrations I did for the appearance of Watts Martin's story 'The Fence' appearing in the first edition of 'The Furkindred'. This was a departure from the ink and coquille into ink, black and white pencil on colored (grey) paper.
It has its issues, but I still enjoy it.
Sadly the companion piece (which will not ever be uploaded if I have anything to say about it) is a ridiculous embarrassment...My visual memory dredged up an image by another artist and I did a fair job at unconsciously duplicating the poses of two characters (the third, thank goodness, was fully original) without realizing that I was remembering someone else's work.
This misfortune was pointed out rather quickly by the legions of fandom AFTER it was published and too late to fix. Noone I showed it to for critique while I was working on it recognized it, either.
Oops.
