Deadass forgot I have this account
I reworked a detective character concept and made him a sea captain after marathoning The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack
Name: Captain Raleigh Moreau
Age: 49
Height: 4'3"
-the hotheaded captain of the Kingfisher, a vessel that mirrors it's captain: modestly sized but overflowing with firepower
-a portly man with a round belly and large rump, narrow shoulders and wide hips, face is round with rosy cheeks, large, plump lips and a bulbous nose, eyebrows and eyelashes are thick, has a beauty mark below his left eye, face turns bright red when angry or embarrassed
-grew up in the port town of Blyth with his mother, never met his father and doesn't know if he's even alive, has only heard stories of his father's travels, speaks with a posh English accent
-leads his crew on voyages to secure and preserve all manner of arcane artifacts, paranormal potpourri and ravishing riches, not interested in keeping these things for himself and would rather have the glory and praise for protecting them from others, museum curators, scholars and collectors pay him and his crew to fetch these treasures for them
-dreams of going down in history as one of the greatest sailors to ever live, is something of a local hero in his hometown but is far from a world renowned navigator, gets a smug grin when people recognize him at port
-best friend is his first lieutenant, Arden Taylor, a meek but very bright young adult with an interest in mythical creatures, Taylor sees Moreau almost like a father, albeit a very flawed one
-abrasive, slow to trust and quick to anger, tends to yell a lot despite already having a naturally loud speaking voice
-though gruff and quick to anger, Moreau is also quick to realize when he's in the wrong and apologize
-much more likely to threaten violence than actually carry out violence, his bark is much worse than his bite but his bark is usually all he needs to keep order on the ship, never curses at his men
-very serious and strict as well as over anxious, tends to get worked up over small things
-never been one to complain about hard work, hates laziness and layabouts
-despite roughly barking orders and harshly scolding the crew for small mistakes, Moreau thinks of them as a family and would be devastated if something happened to any of them
-does not appreciate comments about his stature/appearance and especially dislikes comparisons to Captain Crunch
-has a big appetite and tends to wolf down his food, often dines with Mr. Taylor and perhaps another guest if he's in a good mood
-a stickler for rules and order, disorganization and carelessness have no place aboard the Kingfisher
-enjoys spiced rum and fruit quite a bit, especially pineapple and grapefruit, makes sure his men are eating well and that rations are fairly divided, thieves are not treated kindly
-in fact, thinks of thieves and pirates as the lowest of the low, considers himself public enemy number one to all sneaky seafaring scoundrels
-weapon of choice is a flintlock dragon (blunderbuss pistol) but is skilled with a cutlass and a rifle as well
-openly gay and a hopeless but inexperienced romantic, would love to share his life with a man who matches his love for the sea but fears his dedication to his work and lack of relationship experience will prevent that
-doesn't like dogs very much, more of a cat person, thinks dogs are too rowdy and noisy for him
-loves being at sea more than anything, doesn't stay in one place too long and claims the open water as his true home
-enjoys reading and learning new things but is often too busy keeping the men in line to sit down with a good book, partial to historical fiction
