This was my cat. We named him lucky and we got him when I was two. He sadly isn't with us anymore and was 15 when he died. I've been looking for a picture of him, but it took me 3 years to find this. this picture was taken sometime in I think..... 1997-ish. The reason why he's looking like he's mad is because that's how he looked every time he was about to fall asleep.
He really did have 9 lives since he'd gotten lost multiple times, but he always came back. What finally did him in wasn't him getting lost, but actually not knowing he had a tapeworm infestation. We didn't know about it until one day when I was cleaning up around the aquarium that he always sat on and saw what looked like moving dirt. When we took him to the vet, we learned that it was tapeworms and he was too far gone for them to help him. instead of putting him down, which wouldn't have taken much longer than him going naturally at this point, we decided to make him as comfortable as we could for his final days.
it's funny because we still see him and hear him from time to time. I've seen him laying in the middle of the hallway like he always did when he was younger, I see him trot from one end of the kitchen to the other when we cook chicken (one of his favorite things to eat), and when I'm in a lot of emotional distress (he was the only one I'd really tell everything too). It's funny since he'd fake sickness to get our attention, but every now and then I hear him meow normally.
