Now back to posting things in a more chronological order... This is about how I would want to draw Digi's character Hakumei. The deal I came up with for her ears isn't very clearly explained here so I'll just type it- On my design they start out black at the top, and fade to white somewhere around the middle and continue white right down to the ends.
