Rando's a fairly simple guy. He drinks, he lies, he cheats, and he parties, in varying orders of repetition. And he gets away with it all by being a charmer to the ladies (and even some of the fellas) and being slippery.
His upbringing was fairly unimpressive, but in young adulthood he was abused mentally and eventually ran off, becoming a vagrant. He'd gotten good at stealing things before he ever did such, and this made it easier to get by. After a chance encounter with a particular bear, he got roped into a much bigger thing than he could've ever imagined being in... whether he liked it or not. Now he does burglaries professionally. C'es lavie!
