Fire breath is cumbersome and exhausting, so it's not the best weapon to use mid-combat. Good if nothing else is at hand, but its best feature is its intimidating nature - roaring out a wave of flame will shake even the most disciplined and fearless foe. The light and smoke can also cover my advance - perfect for, say, a shield charge, or a jump strike. Or to cover allies while they get away. It has its uses, but I don't rely on it.
