This is a larger version of the thumbnail being used to represent my short-story "Dire Action"

In the story, it's the year 2110. The gun in question is described as a, ".50AE Desert Eagle Pistol with a TDI vector compensator and flashlight attachment"

The image was actually made with a high resolution picture of a .44magnum Desert Eagle pistol. I tore the front end off of a TDI Vector (the Kriss SMG from Modern Warfare 2). photoshopped that on, then grabbed a random image of a flashlight and slapped that to the front. The blood splatter was something random I found in via Google Image that held no apparent copyright license (Which is a moot point anyway because I'm not making money off of this anyway)

I chose the 50 cal Desert Eagle because it's something that I'd imagine could handle a creature the size of a raptor. If I were Diris, I sure wouldn't have wanted to be spitting 9mms at dinosaurs. =P
