After the spotty track record of the Boson Class of Deep Space Scientific Research Vessels in the 20th century the Mai'No'Tian Government quickly went to work on refitting the vessels but knew that no matter how well the refit the fix would only go so far and do so much to fix the ships problems. So in parallel with the design of refiting the Bosons a plan was made to develop a successor class, out of the project came 2 competing designs, the design of the Sil'Uran Ship Yard Project 3802 which was essentially the Bosons with low orbital upgrades and interior expansion achieved by moving the bridge to the stern and jettisoning it out of the hull and the addition of wings to the stern to effectively expand the length of the warp coils. The other from the Quil'Er Space Port Type 301 featuring a humpback stern the the bridge and command center juts out of. The lighter mass of the ship do to its thinner bow allowed better characteristics of maneuverability and handling while using an upgraded powerplant and more efficient warp coils, the Type 301 would take longer to make and still needed flaws fixed with the challenges of the new powerplant thus giving the Project 3802 the victory to begin construction first, however the class would only have 4 built before the Type 301 would begin construction meaning both designs were indeed produced. The Biome Class came from the Type 301 and proves to be highly capable in its role of long range exploration beyond the range of most other vessels of similar size and mass.
