Had this old drawing lying around, unfinished, for probably more than FIVE years. It's probably been in my "unfinished stack of stuff and ideas" the longest of anything I've done in this last decade.
So I decided I was going to FINALLY finish it.
So... finally... here's my take on THE classic match-up/confrontation in kaiju lore. King Kong facing off against Godzilla. Before Freddy vs. Jason and before Alien vs. Predator there was two giant monsters from two different parts of the world throwing down.
Like I said in a recent journal entry, this is probably THE fight kaiju fans want to see get a modern rematch/remake.
How I envision it, Kong would have the advantage of being the more physically stronger of the two (he IS a giant gorilla), or at least in proportion to how he was in the Peter Jackson remake (which is pretty impressive). Godzilla already has plenty of advantages of his own, namely that atomic breath and regeneration.
I'd base the story itself on the awesome comic project being done (off and on) by the dudes at American Kaiju. Check it out, it's a pretty cool site.

I hope this drawing looks good, it's a mixture of styles I've had over the years. Heavy shading, etc. Tried to make it look like we're already in the midst of the battle, and not just on opposite sides of a picture.
So Kong's getting ready to PAWNCH Godzilla, while the Big G is getting ready to unleash his FIYA (as shown by the "fiery outline" effect on his spinal plates).
Hope it looks good. *is his own worst critic*

.... who'd wanna see THAT fight? O.o
of course Kong would have to be enlarged (or Godzilla shrunk *gasp* X3) for this battle to commence. Either have it be an entirely different Kong (ala Toho's route) or have Kong recieve a size increase (ala American Kaiju's awesome comic).

Ohhhh. I just read the preview after you mentioned that and realized the atomic bomb seems to have super-sized Kong. At least they did a good job and explain it away (I'm guessing).
Just to entertain a big, dumb wolf; how tall is Godzilla's "official" height? I just remembered the old Hanna-Barbera show's theme song and him being "30 stories high" which would put him at around 300 feet tall I think.

during this time period, Godzilla's relationship to electricity (and whether it helps or hurts him) shifted between movies quite a bit. In the first movie, it barely seemed to bother him... in KKvG it hurt him... think it hurt him as well in Godzilla vs. Mothra... because they used it to stop Goji from harming the egg... then it suddenly recharges him a few movies later (Godzilla vs. Sea Monster, which was originally going to be a King Kong picture till Rankin-Bass backed out)... and then MANY movies later... gives him (or at least the big ass lightning bolt gives him) that 'magnetism' ability he utilizes to stop Mechagodzilla.
*shrugs* so it's really hard to say (definitively) either way. XD
