Before you start: "Zekko" is the main planet in which most of my OCs live.

Canine (originally Pavel Nikolayevitch Valeyv) was born in a family of workers, in a dark sector of the main Zekkonian capital. He was born without fonctional limbs, and because of that, his parents could not afford to feed him, knowing that he would not even be able to help them in return. He was then sold to the manager of the metal factory "Vostok Industries", his name was Samuel Storm.
Samuel made sure Pavel got the best prosthetics available on the market, as his factory was specialized in the creation of stratonium items, which is one of the rarest, most coveted and expensive metals in the galaxy, due to it's very resistant nature.
However, this wasn't out of pure generosity: Pavel was literally used and treated like a slave, a robot, fixing broken machines and vehicles, lifting heavy objects and such all day long with only a little rest. Life was hard on the planet, especially in the city, and Pavel could not leave without paying his debt or his limbs would be taken from him.
To free his mind, or at least temporarily, Pavel often went to the dark sectors with some employees of the factory to watch the (illegal) races that took place there. Seeing those racers unite with their vehicle, feeling the pressure of the speed, hearing the engines; this always gave him a strong, yet unknown feeling. At some point, he started to show a desire to ride on of those vehicles, and his colleagues pushed him into trying (also to make money on what they thought would be an easy bet). He then sold one of his fingers on the black market to get his first bike.
His bike wasn't anything fancy, yet he showed an incredible ability to maneuver and anticipate. Perhaps fixing vehicles all day long had other utilities after all. During his first race, he got closer to that feeling he had back in the stands: it was pure adrenaline. He had never felt so alive in his life. The more he ran, the more he won, raising enough money to get his missing finger back.
But he was having so much fun that he forgot the risks and cost for such intense adrenaline: he got in an accident, where his head was severly damaged. Samuel eventually heard the news, and decided to completly replace his head with a helmet-shaped stratonium shell, containing only his brain and a few other vital elements. This increased Pavel's debt to a ridiculously high amount, that Samuel thought would be enough to discourage him from trying. Pavel being the restless man that he is, it did the complete opposite, and this new head provided him the perfect protection for more intense and dangerous races.
Pavel enventually got his hand on his first "sonic" bike (see https://toyhou.se/12448571.waverider), re-molded his head into something that fitted him more, and started calling himself "Canine" due to its new shape.
Thanks to those new races, Canine became one of the most renowned racers in the solar system, and then in the whole galaxy. He was finally able to pay his debt and had found his path.
