My first Blender Render, from, the Grant Abbit tutorials
Well I now have a new machine, but what I thought would happen, did happen. The new machine is beefy (Save the graphics card which is the one from my old machine), and i have a ton of disk space,, Ram and Cores on the processor. However most of my legacy 3D software is now inoperable, so, I've had to make the leap to Blender. We shall see how this goes.

That's the thing about 3D, is because every few years there is a shift , and you have to learn the new method. First it was low Poly and low bit rate textures (Quake2). Then it was higher poly models and 24 and 32 bit textures. Then it was stacked textures and procedural foot placement, and now it's shaders, NPR rendering if necessary, and AI control of Animation selection. And that is just games. In Film, it's moving away from 3D digital actors and green screen, to LED Environments and real actors with Deep Fake faces. We shall see how it goes, but, you have to keep learning.
I started 3D some months ago on Blender. For making characters, this playlist really helped me. It covers everything: the modeling, the rigging, posing, UV texturing, the fur and even facial expression.
Stackexchange's blender section is also a nice resource.
One thing that is eternal in 3d modeling is topology, can't do anything without it!
