Contemplation (Old Art)
This is an ooooold commission that
had requested years ago of my character, Okari. He has always given me free reign as he really likes the character and wants me to portray her as she is meant to be portrayed.
At the time, this had a fairly sad description about how Okari never really seems to come to terms with who she is, what she's done, and what she's lost. Her story is a sad one, but, now that I look at it, I'm grateful that her story seems to be filling out more and that it seems to have a happier ending in sight.
So, maybe she sits on the rocks of her home lands, pondering over all that she has fought for, all that she has lost, and all that she stands to possibly gain in the forthcoming years of her life. She's still young, afterall.
Or, maybe, it's further along in her story. Maybe she's waiting for someone to come back...looking forward, hopeful but cautious.
Done in prismacolor pencils on cardstock.

I think I remember seeing this over at your DA gallery. Your prismacolor pieces are among my favorites, I think. I particularly like the rocks. The texture turned out really good. The stylized clouds are really cute, too, because they are so starkly different from the rest of the realistic elements of the piece but still compliment it so well.
Thanks so much. Yeah, those rocks, if I remember correctly, were a labor of love and hate. I still like this piece, though. It's one of my commissions that I was sad to see go. However, Ragnarok was kind enough to have a wood burning done of it, and sent to me! It's still on my wall.
