The world of Rani including the names of the continents, rivers, wind systems, climates, and tectonic features. Many thanks to Nex who helped me with the climates and winds!
Rani has been something I've worked on since I was a teen. Not all the time, but it's always in the back of my mind somewhere. Unfortunately this also means I'm pretty conflicted on what the exact history is, especially after I discovered and fell in love with Neopets. I want this to be a public domain world with cool critters and magic as well as science. I'm going to likely need help as something like world-building takes a while, but I'll add below some of my current thoughts on everything.
General
Rani is about the same size and mass as Earth and also has an Earth-like moon. Rani has an orbit of some 384 days. The moon has a roughly 32 day period. As a result, most calendars have twelve months of 32 days.
The system of Rani is much like our solar system in terms of planets, but where we have Venus and Mars, they are switched here--so their second planet in is a red, dusty world with a small moon while their fourth planet is a watery world where life is known to exist. It has a moon similar in size to that of Rani's as well. I've never gotten to developing this world, but I had thought that magical portals once connected it and Rani.
Continents
There were always five: Aldania, Beringia, Candorin, Datal, and Enard. After mapping it out recently, I decided there could be more and decided to follow the ABC naming order my younger self found so cool. Falmia, Glacia, and Hovan are all new.
Aldania: in my mind, it's always been the place closest to a mix of Asia and Russia. It has the largest, deepest, oldest lake in the world (think Caspian Sea meets Lake Baikal).
Beringia: always in the place of South America (but much larger) and home of the Beringian Empire. Founded by the semi-legendary Berin. It once included Hovan. Eventually a rebellion was led by Hova and the Hovan region gained its freedom.
Candorin: the center continent. As we have out of Africa here, so there is out of Candorin on Rani. The oldest structures, art, and so on can be found on Candorin--if you dare. Candorin is considered a 'lost continent'--a disaster thousands of years ago broke it apart and created a number of magical anomalies that makes going there tricky. It's still possible to live there if one does not mind the possibility of being magically mutated. The one exception to this is a place called Forbidden Gate. It's the only city on Candorin that's still inhabited and is usually used as a 'jumping off' point both in the stories I wrote and for adventures on Candorin in general.
Datal: always to the north of Beringia and thus the North American equivalent. Datal is, technically, an acronym from the name of the five nations that formed a confederacy. On official documents it's the Confederacy of D.A.T.A.L. but almost no one ever writes that out normally and the continent itself is not an acronym.
Enard: south of Aldania and most like a mix of Africa and South America. It has interesting features like the Seven Lakes. Vibrant cities exist across the continent and the central region is a carefully tended biome.
Falmia: a region most like Europe. It's bumping against both the Aldanian and Enardian plates, creating some really impressive-looking mountain ranges.
Glacia: creatively named after its glaciers, it was not considered a separate continent until fairly recently. It's still considered part of the Beringian Empire and it actually extends down to the South Pole. "Colder than Glacia" is a common phrase around the world.
Hovan: It is no mean feat to go against the might of the Beringian Empire, but Hova and her rebels managed. The victory is seen much the way that the American Revolution is, and Hovan has managed to keep its independence for some time, despite numerous attempts by the Empire to reclaim it. Relations are still cool but cordial. "Hotter than the Hovian Desert" is a common phrase around the world. Said Hovian Desert is the hottest, driest place on Rani, but there are enough oases in it to keep it from being completely desolate.
Other
My great love of Neopets has made me wonder if I could make Rani like it, with the regions and the "pets". Rani has always been a furry world, and if it falls more along the lines of Neopets the folks inhabiting it could be heraldic creatures in anthro form.
Magic exists in Rani and is considered a natural force akin to electromagnetism and gravity. It can be harnessed in various ways, though doing so directly though ones body is about as good an idea as sticking ones finger into a light socket. It allows for many interesting effects that normal physics don't cover. Basically anything that could be achieved through "mad science" or "superhero physics" is something magic can do.
Thoughts and suggestions are always appreciated.

Hey there! I thought I'd drop you a message since you mentioned needing help with worldbuilding. That's something I specialise in, and I'm particularly good at developing ecosystems and cultures for sapient species. What are you mainly looking for help with at the moment?
Hi! Thanks! I think right now my biggest trouble is the internal conflict I have on how I want Rani to be. When I initially created the world it had five species: Ursines, Canines, Felines, Procyonidae and Humans. Eventually I found myself struggling to explain this and decided to make Rani an all-mammal world. Sometime after that Neopets opened up and it became "gee, that's neat! I could do that with Rani..."
Of course, Neopets does Hollywood Culture and has all the potential cultural appropriation that goes with that.
On the specifics of ecosystems and cultures, I think I'd mostly like someone to talk with. Rani is a world I want to share with everyone and I want it to be interesting and fun.
