Sweet! I love Samaritan, and leading up to the sex scene just sealed the deal. if it ever got printed, I would by a few copies- one for the vault, one to read, and two or three to give to friends who seem interested. it's gritty and gorgeous and it tickles that detective noir bone in my body.
Thanks for hitting all the right spots!

Scott was Vandergraf's son? (WHACK forehead) of COURSE he was. That makes so much sense.
And I'm still thinking about that watch. I still don't know the significance of that watch. You know which one; the one in the "Hi, I'm dead, and this is my wristwatch" picture. I'm PRETTY sure-- PRETTY sure-- that the way you highlighted that thing it has some significance. It bugs me that I can't get it.

It may, however, just be a fact of life. "They all look alike to me" is a hot-button racist slam in our society, and probably the same in the Slop universe, but identifying individuals of completely different species-- when you're not cued in on the body language, the significance of a small variation in the stripes, and so on, might be difficult.
Of course one character I write (in what is essentially authorized Slop fanfic) is a member of a particular breed where they DO all look alike, as alike as brothers and sisters or perhaps even more alike than that. And he uses it to operate unseen. So maybe I'm being too lenient with Carol here, since my success as a storyteller depends on her indifference to other species. :)

Vandergraf is a smart business man, and probably learns quickly.
I'm willing to bet there is only one, 'mistake' in the bushes.
I even think sheep, might be the 'dumb blonds', of the slop universe.
Eye candy for the clients and an easy shag for the boss.
I doubt Vandergraf even suspects Carol is the 'leak' in his office.
