The mainstay utility helicopter of the Callentine Air Force, the R.7 Ba'tere (Buzzard) is a further develpment of the venerable but unreliable R.6 Keigel (Demon). Though early production variants featured six-bladed main rotors with an unusual 'scythe' tip ( as seen here), later variants feature a more conventional four-blade composite blade system. The shortframe version carries up to 8 passengers and 4 crew (pilot, co-pilot, two gunners), while the longframe variant (pictured, with performance-enhancement pack consisting of refueling boom, uprated engines and additional electronics) carries 12, or six litters.
