Listening to the audiobook of Bill Bryson's "At Home", he related the story about how a farm that could not figure out how rats were stealing eggs without breaking them.

Since little shopping carts were not considered, they staked out the henhouse. They found that a rat would grab onto an egg with all four paws then roll over onto its back with the egg on its belly. Then another rat would grab the first rat by the tail and pull it back to the nest to enjoy the egg in peace.

crafty rats. :) I guess some facepalms were planted that day?
