And what a happy occasion it is, indeed.
Two things have changed recently; first, I've went from using GIMP to using Paint Tool Sai as my main drawing tool. Right away the differences are clear, as Sai allows a lot more freedom and it can just do things that are virtually impossible in GIMP. Second, I've also started learning how to draw with an actual tablet. Before, I used a mouse to draw, which was also incredibly limiting. I think now that I've moved onto these new tools, I'm going to get even better than I ever could have been before. I'm excited to see where this path takes me.
As for the image itself, a friend got me to draw this in honor of the upcoming Helium Day, August 18. Obviously as an inflation fan helium is kind of important to me, and it's even more important to Sylvie over there. I'm sure her Zoroark friend doesn't mind being the balloon for this celebration; the spherical look suits her very well, after all.

Something I really like about this is the odd tilt and side view. It makes her bottom seem rather heavy, despire her floating. That equilibirum, dispite such a static shape as a sphere, adds some gentle energy to the picture that's percalating for the imagination.
Also that Sylvion's expression is a hoot and a half. I need to read this story, buh.
