in 1987, after Rodimus Prime's title as leader was reclaimed by Optimus Prime, he was rereleased as his original form of Hot Rod. However, instead of his two Photon Lasers, he was given a Targetmaster partner. This Targetmaster was Firebolt, who became a gun for the bigger Hot Rod.

Many years later, Firebolt would be released in the Siege toyline, as a "Battle Master" who retained his ability to transform into a double blaster, which was now named as a "Duo-Charge Electrostatic Photon Cannon". And a few years after that, his partner Hot Rod would be released in the Studio Series 86 toyline.

I got Firebolt in a huge lot of Transformers (which I will get around to showing off soon), mainly so I could pair him up with my Hot Rod figure. and let me tell you, it feels nice to reunite these two.
