my newest Garden Dragon plushie. his name's Samsung
typically, male garden dragons (Draconis papillonauris) are white, and have brightly coloured stripes, horns, and spikes around their tail buds, while females are more earthy tones (cream, green, brown etc) and have longer head fur, but lack horns and tailspikes.
garden dragon horns, 'buttons,' tail spikes and tailbuds glow in the dark, making them look like large fireflies at night.
once and a while 'chocolate' dragons are born (this is about as rare as a female orange tabby cat), and their bioluminescence is more powerful, showing up in their wings and their stripes, as is the case with Samsung.
---
i had a lot of fun sewing him and experimenting with tiny detalis like his paw-pads and sculpted horns and the inside of his tailbud. He's got a magnet in his chest and that, along with the fact that his pawpads are plastic-y means that he actually has a bit of a grip, especially on metalic stuff. :3
i also experimented with a different kind of wings. these ones are made from nylon stretched out over a pipe-cleaner frame. i like the look but it's going to be hard to master on such a small scale. i may also switch from pipe-cleaners to regular thick wire, since it's less fluffy (some of the fluff sticks through the nylon, giving his wings a velvety feel around their outsides).
i changed the garden dragon leg-pattern slightly as well; they have larger feetpaws now, meaning they have better balance. in the future i may add another centre piece, but we shall see.
