My tongue rolled out of my mouth as I yawned and stretched out the massive muscles of my new body. I idly scratched behind my ear and did my business. I put on my work out clothes and trotted over to the gym.
Asher was already there pumping iron with some bicep curls. I smiled as I walked up with a groggy smile on my face. “I see you’re already at it today!”
He slowly set down his weights and stood up to greet me. “Hey, Ryker! You ready to work out?” I smiled and nodded. It was chest day for me, so having Asher as a spotter would be really helpful when I got to the bench press.
We started with a slight warm up: jogging in place, stretching, and a quick lap on the track upstairs. Starting to wake up, I slid down the stairs on the center railing and hopped over to the yoga corner to start with some push ups.
Asher moved on with his workout, focusing on his arms and shoulders the most. We just worked out together in silence in the still empty gym. It was great! There’s nothing like a little quiet in the morning. After a few exercises I moved onto the bench press and started my set.
Asher spotted me, having finished his own workout today, and pulled the bar onto the rack. My chest ached from the effort, my arms feeling a bit of it too. I was ready for a nice cool shower.
I waved Asher bye as he stopped at his room, and entered into mine to grab my bag.
Everyone from my hall, including Cayden, were already in the showers, having taken to heart Asher’s early bird mentality. I smiled to myself as I trotted up to one of the unoccupied showers and started my routine.
Being covered in fur has its advantages! I didn’t have to use many products to get myself clean: no acne treatments, no body wash, just shampoo and conditioner. Even then, the conditioner was optional.
As I washed, I felt the water tapping against my fur, the water pressure strong enough to impact the skin beneath. The cool water after the hot workout relaxed my muscles, letting them release extra tension. They didn’t stop being sore, but rather ached with the memory of a good pump.
After I was done, I walked with my dripping fur over to the drying station and got started.
I had found out over the past few days that my fur needs a bit extra help to get it the way I wanted, which just meant I had to brush it out more and style it into place. Luckily my fur didn’t need much product to stay in place once it’s dried. It’s still thick enough to support itself with the winter padding I grew. “Man, I’m gonna shed like crazy in the spring.”
I got dried off and styled, walking up to my room to get changed into my normal clothes for the day. I’d have to do laundry soon though…
I decided to stop at the kitchen and cook one of the few recipes I knew: spaghetti with meat sauce. It took longer than I expected to find all the ingredients I was looking for, but once I had found everything, I threw on an apron and gloves and got started. The gloves were a bit uncomfortable, but I didn’t really want any onion stuck in my fur or tomato paste for that matter.
I cooked up the food and transferred it to a large container to bring to Julia. I slowly padded into the wolverine dorms and knocked on her door, my tail swishing in anticipation and hope that she’d like my cooking. No one answered. “J?” I asked. No reply.
My heart sank and tail drooped as fear set in. I pried open the door and stepped into the dark room, sniffing around for her scent. It was gone, gone as if she were never there. The water bottles were gone too. I wandered around the room, checking the furniture for any clues as to where the human woman went. No signs.
My head hung low as I left the abandoned room and walked towards the dining hall.
