For me, to understand the present, it’s important to look back in the past. I can only speak from a cis-male perspective, but back then it seems that the female pinup is a target for the male gaze, a vision to be objectified, especially during war times. But it is also of female empowerment and ownership of their sexuality. So much has changed since 1950, and ideas of female beauty, how we define and express our gender and sexuality, and what it means to be a “strong, empowered” women may or may not have changed much since then. Personally for me, I just find the world more confusing then ever before, but I hope that through effort a better understanding can be reached.

And I guess I had the pin up as a tigress for a meaning. She may be pretty, but deserves respect. If you mistreat her, she will either just walk off or tear off your face.
