this is the reason i canceled class, a six flags trip and even one day of work - to fix this. Mother ^&%&$, how hard is it to put on shingles?! i mean really, one perfectly aligned with the outside edge, and the other cut to size, and then from one side to the other. man... >.< And the WHOLE SIDE IS LIKE THIS, 300$ worth of shingles that we have to re-do (cannot re-use them, the'll have too many holes).
But wait, there's more. there are so few nails in them than my father almost did a faceplant on the groud beacuse npt one, but three slipped out under his feet - there were two nails in each. two. And these people wanted to be thanked (an old-owed favor of some not-friends of my father's) AND rfeused to do it any other way. I would have told them to get the hell down and off our property XD.
Anyway, more money down the drain *sighs* why.. *rant over*

Roofing isn't nearly as difficult as people make it today. I see roofer after roofer f*ing things up horribly all because they are lazy - not in how hard they work, but in how SMART they work. You have to put down a chalk line as a guide to put the shingles on. And when you start a line, you start with a full shingle on one, and a HALF shingle on the other. That means cutting shingles perfectly in half using a GUIDE BOX or a cutter and a T-SQUARE to make sure it is both straight, and exactly in half. You also place shingles perfectly half-overlapping from row to row. Oh, and you use what, 8 nails per shingle I think.
I haven't done a roof since I was 12 years old (30 years ago) and I STILL know how to do it, and I know how to do it better than any roofer I've seen doing it around here - although I do live in stupidsville here.
This is why they make small claims court. I suggest you make use of it. Take pictures first.

Actually, that's not true. You can sue for your loss, which is the money you will have to pay a roofer. It doesn't matter if they donated their time, you still have a legal claim because you have suffered a loss. Get estimates from three roofers, bring receipts for the materials, and go file a small claim.
