When the world is screwed up ... too many things can change and, this Dreik world is chaotic and primitive, what can go wrong? everything!
Well, at least it is not said that someone does try things or introduce or apply knowledge something more "advanced" than an average Dreik would only see it illogical ...
I would say that he would be tired of being asked things all the time (or so I think).

I would say if anything the societies of the Dragonscape have been able to stabilize well, things can go wrong but they're far better off than they were 36 years ago during the awakening. The rhythm of life that they've formed is good enough for the time being and its a stable enough life.
and your society have a problem with the issue of descent. With the theme that if the egg breaks, they can always "replace it" ... I don't know how that kind of mentality takes hold ... Okay, nothing, I can imagine why.
Without any limitation at the time of mating, there open "exedentes in the population" to the point where it does not matter.
Well, at least it has some kind of "stability", between dangerous biomes and faction warfare the population increases and decreases all the time.

Mind you drekir lay a lot of eggs per year, conservatively a female might lay 7-9 eggs a year, and on a particularly "active" year a drek might lay upwards of 10-14 eggs per year. So on the scale of generations generally populations are able to remain stable. There is actually a risk in many populations of overbreeding and exhausting the local food supplies that often results in cultural practices of breaking eggs to ensure that the next generation isn't too giant.
Cruel, but reasonable, as I imagined. Only that he believed that between the "dangerous" of the world (that is, drekir killed annually) and the birth rate (egg-laying rate) times the "quantity" of each there was a certain balance and the number of the population. it would be easily solved and "replaceable" in the same way (at least from eggs).
Given that the danger of overpopulation to that extreme (cultural practices of breaking eggs), well, it is greater than I thought.
