You look like you like the punk style, I think it works for you, everybody has self image issues. . . in some form or another, I have only ever taken 2 photos of myself and I still hate them somewhat but it had to be done. Just keep pushing through life! Cause that's how life goes.
You know, I don't get this at all: You repeatedly state explicitly that you're 'physically' female, and imply that you're cognitively male, yet when someone addresses you as masculine (which is, more often than not, merely used as the generic grammatical gender), you insist that you're female. It's a shame, too, because you'd make a cute guy.
*shrug* I understand what you were talking about, but my point was who are we to judge her gender identity. It may seem confusing or whatever to others, but ultimately it's her business and it would be best to just respect that rather than confront it and suggest she go nicely into some little category.

I randomly found this just now, although it seems like it was posted awhile ago. . . so lemme reply.
I don't care whether I'm addressed as a 'he' or as a 'she'. It actually makes me giggle every time someone online addresses me as a he. If I had a choice, like if I'd had a box to check at birth. . . male would have been what I'd chosen. But this is the genetic card I drew, and I'm opposed to mutilating myself through surgery (not that I have a problem with people who do, I just prefer to remain natural, myself) so this is the way I'm gonna stay. I actually have a hormone deficiency, which is why I appear so masculine. There isn't anything I can do about it at this stage of my life, so I make the best of what I've got.
My insistence with people on FA that I'm female, if I've ever expressed it, has been to clarify it so people know how to FIND me at conventions. I've gotten more notes than I can remember at this point from people who wanted to meet me at cons, and went looking for a man. Ironically, sometimes these people DO find me, meet me, and leave unaware that I was a female. I consider that a compliment at this point in my life. . . it means the way I present myself is masculine enough to fool.

Hmm...there's something about your look that's familiar. Not sure what though, as I know we've never met (and doubt we've ever been in the same state at the same time, being a Michigan native). Maybe it's the "I refuse to conform the societies definition of beautiful" look. I still think you're selling yourself short in your own assessment of your looks. I mean, I see no scars, no blemishes, your skin looks remarkably clear, though it is a smallish photo. It looks like you take good care of yourself, and you don't try to look like someone you're not. You plan to look like you. Personally, I prefer girls who don't put on five pounds of makeup and try for hours to look like supermodels. At that point it's just a disguise, and I'd rather see the real person.

Don't think wrongly when I say this or think I'm a weirdo, but I think spikey hair on a girl is very cute and cool. I don't try to think of myself on how I look, I like how I look and don't care what people say, if this describes you in this way, then your doing the right thing. =)

I should add, as a fellow shorthair-person, that if you've gotten "dike," "little boy," etc comments, thats an inevitable part of having short hair. I suspect that is one reason why you criticize yourself. You don't actually look like that. I don't think I look masculine at all and I've struggled with that problem for years. It used to bug me enough that I've donated 2 feet of hair in the last couple years (hearing a few mean comments, deciding to grow it out, chop it back off, repeat process).

Aww rukis i would say you look very cute, you are very different for having shorter hair which makes you stand out. Most girls try and look cute and sexy but it comes out way too much and to me turns me away from them but your care free look (not saying that you do take care of yourself cause i bet you do ^^) is actually really attractive and beautiful. To me your a very adorable looking girl also you look very very very artsy, i know two girls at my school who look similar in a way to you one had hair that was pink at the back then went to a red up front.

One of the reasons that there are so few images of me in existence, is that i hate how i look and could never understand why some people consider me attractive, especially my lover, but i figure in my case there's no accounting for taste, or lack there of...
Guess i'm just getting too old to care anymore, and if you'll take a bit of advice from what i've learnt these past 47 years, it's not how you look on the outside that counts, but what you feel on the inside... and you've got some great stuff going on in your heart and your head!

If you don't think you photograph well then go to Thalian, the convention photographer, plaintively offer him a sketch in return for a brief portrait session, and (without going being so rude as to actually volunteer his services), I have a shrewd suspicion that he'd gladly prove you wrong. Don't be put off by his possibly-ominous appearance: five seconds of conversation will amply demonstrate what an enormous and gentle heart lies underneath the clothing and the beard.

Whenever I looked for you at RMFC I just saw the Cruelty books and your style is very recognizable and once I saw you I was like "squee! There she is!"
