Wow, Kenneth is sure mean this morning! First he ignores his son during the fire incident, then he insults him at his work in front of his underlings... Although it's a little hard to disagree with his assessment of Adam. XD
Plus, Adam has his pal Arace to stand up for him - and the cheetah brought the SMACKDOWN on hot lion daddy. XD I remember back when Kenneth first appeared, I imagined Arace being intimidated by the lion, only to be informed that nope, Arace wouldn't be, and here we are. :D

It was mostly a joke; lions are usually seen as proud creatures, so Kenneth would have a higher opinion of himself even when compared to his own son. It also works as a meta joke, since most of our audience thinks Kenneth is very attractive, while Adam is not very popular.
Kenneth is divorced, but keeps up the appearance that he is still married; it hasn't come up in the comic strip itself yet, but it was described in the overview for the strip #172 on the site.

I sense someone is unwittingly trying to lose their job, though it's not like Kenneth didn't deserve it. As father figures go, he's not exactly the greatest. Buuuut, he is a hot lion daddy, so he kinda gets a pass. It's a lion thing.
