Name: Achilles Valerion

‘Achilles’ - The name Achilles means ‘pain’ and is of Greek origin. As a writer, I chose this to allude to another character being his weak point/’achilles heel’, as the drow he likes becomes his obsession and ultimately causes his demise.
‘Valerion’ - A sedative obtained from the Eurasian plant with the same name that helps with insomnia; comes from Roman origin.

Age: 579 years old as of the start of the campaign. (Died at and looks about 40.)

Values, Personality and Drive:
-‘A lawful evil villain methodically takes what he wants within the limits of his code of conduct without regard for whom it hurts. He cares about tradition, loyalty, and order but not about freedom, dignity, or life. He plays by the rules but without mercy or compassion. He is comfortable in a hierarchy and would like to rule, but is willing to serve. He condemns others not according to their actions but according to social rank or how much he will gain personally by their death.’
-This comes partly from his nature and partly because he depends on order to protect himself from those who oppose him on moral grounds. He will not typically kill in cold blood for no reason and will not kill children without even stronger reason. He imagines that this puts him above unprincipled villains and vampires. He typically will have underlings do most of his dirty work. When killing himself, he enjoys drawing out their death with torture.
-Beyond being willing to hurt others for his own ends, he takes pleasure in spreading evil as an end unto itself. He also sees doing evil as part of a duty to Kanchelsis.
-‘Lawful evil creatures consider their alignment to be the best because it combines honor with a dedicated self-interest.’
-He is obsessive over a certain drow and doesn’t really want to kill him despite what has happened. He would not want him to die, unless via turning him into a vampire.
-He is at risk of being permanently killed by Kanchelsis if he shows too much mercy to his drow again/refuses to turn him if the vampire goes through with pursuing the mortal.

-Achilles was MUCH more loyal to Kanchelsis when he was first turned(was turned by the deity himself).
-His contracts are created by himself or by his Lord. He often kills vampire hunters, those who pose a threat to him or his House, or others who he will benefit from with their death.
-The Vampire Lord had begun to stray from his path a bit before he found the drow but after finding him it only worsened.
-He is devastated of his cult's destruction after his punishment and may seek to create it again.
-His Lord was tired of watching the vampire become weaker and less goal driven and obsessed with a mortal. He appeared physically to tear open his chest, burn him with holy water, and stake him to his coffin after incapacitating him, but keeping him ‘alive’ on purpose.
-“Whether or not a vampire retains any memories from its former life, its emotional attachments wither as once-pure feelings become twisted by undeath. Love turns into a hungry obsession, while friendship becomes bitter jealousy. In place of emotion, vampires pursue physical symbols of what they crave, so that a vampire seeking love might fixate on a young beauty. A child might become an object of fascination for a vampire obsessed with youth and potential. Others surround themselves with art, books, or sinister items such as torture devices or trophies from creatures they have killed.”
