Digimon is GREAT, but definitely has its fair share of being stupidly complex. I still recommend it though! The style is cool, the monsters are cool and sometimes hilarious (please look up Gundramon I'm begging you), the lore is cool... So yeah! Go test the waters, see if its for you. I think you'd like it, honestly! :o
