Heh. Now this is an interesting looking piece I have to immediately tell you.
It seems simplistic to do, as...well the shapes made for the character are simple. But that's what makes it unique when I view it. If anything, it looks like the old 80s cartoons that resemble Rocky and Bullwinkle to some degree. Difference in this being that your line art is a bit darker and the lines seem a lot smoother than what I can ever say I've seen there. Not that this is a bad thing. To me, it's just noticeable.
But I'm going to digress.
I should probably be looking at the picture itself which I must say... I enjoy the theme to. I know it's something as simple as a pose, but I would have to say..the presentation makes it seem much more...dignified than normal. The nose raised higher than normal, the position of the eyes. Even a hand on hip sends to send out a type of body language that says "professionalism" and I like that. (That and the bow tie here works. ) What I have to add..I like how you colored the background. It's a starburst but...because it's a pea green/cream corn like colored background, it makes the character in te foreground stand out more. That and it's much more eye catching than it would have been had you made it just a plain white background.
Personally speaking...you did a rather fine and dignified job on this.
