Just a simple shot of the Suby's engine bay. One of the few things I can envy Hondas for is how clean their engine bays are/can be made. Subarus have vacuum and breather lines -everywhere-. Not the prettiest engine bay, but hey, it means business. Plus, crinkle red <3. Yes, I know I need to repaint my "windshield washer fluid" (actually methanol) tank cap. A little bit of methanol tends to end up on the cap when I refill the tank, and that eats away at the paint :\

Nice. I did head gaskets on a 2000 Legacy. When I spoke with the service manager at Subaru, he was amazed I did the job without removing the engine from the car. He offered me a job there, but I told him I like working in a shop that gives me variety. (Everything from a 69 Ferrari to a DMC-12 to a 82 Ford Escort with a 3 cylinder diesel.
Eh, bugs and leaves do still collect on it a bit, but at least they don't get embedded in it, or bend the fins from direct 70+ mph hits. It is great how short the intake path is from the turbo to the engine (turbo -> y pipe -> intercooler -> throttle body -> intake manifold is a total path of maybe 2-3 feet total), which helps with throttle response. Of course, the downside is that the intercooler is very susceptible to heat soak, since it's sitting right above a hot engine.
yeah, but wouldnt that only be a problem when you stop and shut down the car, like say at the gas station, then turn it back on??? i do a lot of long distance driving, and when i take breaks, they are usually 45 minutes to an hour. i dont think that would be problem with me.
