Slimes reproduce through active Assimilation. The method of Assimilation varies, but the most successful and productive methods usually involve the elusive and secretive slime Queens. These creatures are usually the amalgam of a sapient or higher functioning creature, and a jewel-like slime Core. Slime Cores are the very essence of Slime culture and the source of their power. Each of the various types of slime has a single Queen that is the epitome of their kind. They gain (by means of their Core) all of the abilities and characteristics of their slime type, plus any bonuses that come along with the type of creature that was assimilated. This grants them their unique ability to evolve quickly as the threat evolves around them, as killing a Queen and capturing her Core could potentially leave the attacker open to been assimilated themselves, strengthening the slimes produced by the new Queen. Needless to say that the human-like 'Slime Girls' should be considered extremely dangerous.
