The oldest of his littermates, Berko is a very confident and charismatic male meerkat. After their birth mob is struck by a sudden disease outbreak, Berko, his brother Gijima and their uncle Umlotha leave in search of a new home. What they end up finding is a small group of evicted meerkats from the Udevu being lead by a female named Dizi, and together they form a new mod called the Baobab. Dizi takes Umlotha as her mate and Berko helps to pupsit and care for his new younger cousins, but after a while he gets the itch to go roving in the hopes of finding his very own mate. After bidding everyone in the Zulu farwell, Berko sets off on his own in the hopes of finding a new mob to join. Life on the road is tough for a lone male, but he manages to avoid being snatched up by any potential predators.
The lone male eventually come across the Komboli, a mob being led by a young female named Madini. Berko is instantly smitten by her and he ends up becoming her mate after he manages to join the mob. He contributes to the mob by participating in sentry duty and helping to dig tunnels (something that he is quite proud of), and he and Madini go on to have several litters together. Berko feels much safer now that he's part of a mob again, and he feels that nothing bad will ever happen to him with a whole mob looking out for him.
This confidence ends up leading to his own demise when Berko wanders too far away from the group while foraging one day and is snatched by a hawk when his youngest child Timon is still a baby.
Berko is Timon's father who was set to appear in The Lion King 1 1/2, but was cut from the film because the director felt there were too many characters in the story. I gave him a name that sounds similar to Berkowitz, which was Timon's surname in the T&P cartoon.
