Bat is Cat
During the battle with Tygris, Batman had wound up getting bitten and scratched by both the giant feline by Selina’s more lithe frame. As Batman and Catwoman flew back to the batcave the wounds proved to be infectious. Bruce’s body was wracked with spasms as he was changed by the battling strains of Tygris and Selina’s DNA. The strain on his body was so great that Batman found himself losing consciousness.
“Selina, something is wrong.” Batman said with a hint of understatement, “I need you to take the controls.”
Selina rushed to the controls of the Batwing, using her enhanced strength to move Batman to the side as she frantically began pressing buttons. She frowned as she looked over to Batman’s unconscious body, he was getting smaller by the minute and black fur was beginning to cover his skin. “Hopefully this thing has a return button” she thought to herself as she continued button mashing.
“Auto-pilot engaged. Returning to Batcave” a robotic voice chirped from the console.
Selina wiped her forehead in relief. “Well, at least that’s settled. Probably.” She looked back at Bruce’s changing frame and winced, “That’s going to be a problem.” She looked at her fur covered hands, “Well, more of a problem.”
Selina looked back towards Bruce. Despite his feminine body, Selina seemed to be more attracted to Bruce than ever. It made sense to her, she did have a thing for cats and she never was entirely straight.. For Bruce’s part, the obvious predicament led him to be more open and honest with Selina. The two would spend a lot of time together as they quarantine in the batcave.
Selina took to her change well, deciding that she did actually kind of like being a cat. “I guess Dr. Dorian was right, but the jerk still should have asked first.” she thought to herself as she free climbed around the batcave. Her sharp claws were the perfect climbing tools, easily digging into the hard rock of the cave. She found herself drawn to the high perches, carrying up sleeping bags and futons to set up camp in a different stop each night. “Bruce! You’ve got to join me up here, it’s wonderful!” She’d yell down from on high. But Bruce was too busy trying to fix their situation to join her.
As he continued to work Bruce found himself becoming stir crazy. He had an urge to hunt at the core of his being, his inner panther asserting herself. He imagined himself stalking the underworld, digging his claws into unsuspecting criminals. He smiled as his tail curled into the air at the thought. He might just spend a night prowling the streets before he returned to his regular self.
As Bruce put his latest cure attempt in a centrifuge he looked up towards the top of the cave. Selina was sprawled out on a rock resting comfortably on a sleeping bag. She noticed Bruce looking up at her and gave a lazy wave. “Well, while this runs I don’t have anything else to do.” Bruce thought to himself as he considered joining Selina. “I suppose I should see what this body of mine can do.”
Bruce flexed his hands, causing his sharp claws to extend out from his fingers. He flexed his feet resulting in much of the same. He jumped at the cave wall, going much higher than he expected. His chest brushed against the rock as he made his way up to Selina, his claws effortlessly piercing the dense walls. Within moments he made it to the top of the cave, something that would have taken him minutes before.
“Nice of you to finally join me” Selina said with a smirk, “There’s just something about high places now, y’know?” She sat up and patted the ground next to her, “And the feeling of your claws digging in…”
Bruce took the invitation and sat next to Selina, accidentally sitting on his tail. “Oh yeah, watch out for that. Not fun to have a sore tail.” Selina grinned, “Here, let me help you.”
Selina pulled Bruce’s tail out from under him. Her hands ran up and down, stroking it as she snuggled up next to him. “So, how’s it going down there?”
Bruce coughed awkwardly as he tried to repress the urge to purr, “I think I’m on to something, but it needs to run in a centrifuge for two more hours before I can be sure.”
“I see, I see.” Selina nodded, “I do miss going out on the town.” She laid her head against Bruce’s chest and purred, “Although I must say the view has been purrfect”
As the changes that affected Batman were more severe than Selina’s, it would prove significantly more difficult to reverse. While Batman’s first priority was to find a way to stop the infectious aspect of their transformation, doing so would prove to be a mistake. The time spent resolving the transmission allowed their condition to progress to the point where it was impossible to safely cure.
