The private military company known as Железная зима – or “Iron Winter,” for those who don't speak Russian – traces its origins back to the Spetznaz. In those volatile times, it was decided to devote research towards a new generation of super soldier, using a combination of experimental serums, bleeding-edge cybernetics, and customized armor and weaponry. The intended end result was to produce elite squads who could do the work of an army, occupying regions of conflict and wiping out insurgents with brutal efficiency.

While the outcome was hidden behind forests of red tape, it's been noted by various intelligence communities that a previously-obscure soldier – one Nataliya Nestimov – was recommended for several accolades, citing “devotion to the Motherland.” Her following military record was likewise declared top secret; there are unverified reports of a powerfully-built snow-white bear in combat gear decimating whole platoons single-handedly. She would retire sometime later officially citing "maternity leave;" her whereabouts afterwards remain unclear.

However, in recent times, Commander Nestimov has resurfaced as the founder of the private military company known as Iron Winter. Whether she has any ties to Russia remains unclear; she has loaned out her forces both as peacekeepers, destabilizers, and private security. Known members and associates include her daughter, Dasha Nestimov, a heavy weapons specialist; and a soldier of fortune known only by the code-name "Hammerhead," an expert in infiltration and close-quarters combat.

If Iron Winter has a greater ideology, it remains unclear at this time. However, one thing is clear – anyone on the wrong side of their clients will have a deadly enemy...
