I have always had a thing for carousel horses. For years. I remember in High School I made one like this, it was made out of foam with cardboard glued over it and had a yarn mane and tail, had a full bridle and saddle and flowers and stood on a stand. It was a bay color and I sold it for 100. So with me getting into clay and art dolls...why not make more or less a life sized (pony) carousel Horse.
The head and hooves are clay but the rest is a fabric over a heavy wire frame. The stand, from floor to the top of the pole is 55 inches tall with the base being 35 inches long. The horse itself is 34 inches tall, from feet to ear tip and 37 inches long from nose to tail.
This doll took me almost two months to make and had the head done way before I even started.
