It's hard to believe that it's been over ten years since the whole world was being threatened by a potential Internet virus, set to be released in conjunction with the beginning of the 'New Millennium' - in this case, January 1, 2000 (which, of course, was incorrect; the official start of the 'New Millennium' was January 1, 2001). How soon we forget...
Among the electronic items threatened by the so-called "Y2K Virus" were Automatic Teller Machines (or ATM, for short) at banks, supermarkets, shopping malls, and other venues where extra spending money is needed.
Needless to say, 'Rob Cat' used a calendar to remind himself about said threat - if, in fact, it was ever going to be carried out by whatever anonymous criminal mind was behind it (which it didn't - luckily for all of us).
This 1999 gag with the pessimistic bobcat appeared in Issue #62 of the 'funny animal' APAzine "Rowrbrazzle". I'd recently rediscovered it, and thought I'd share this 'blast from the past' with all of you...

Now, of course, I also have moments of angst, whenever my VCR's programming function suddenly jumps ahead or falls behind one hour - because it didn't know that our government decided to change the dates of Daylight Savings Time! We ought to have our politicians change the settings on our VCRs, as a form of punishment for this electronic snafu!
You're right, but 'end-of-the-year madness' led to all sorts of other paranoia - like a planned bomb attack in a major U.S. city on New Year's Eve (among other 'scare tactics'). My biggest fear, when watching the New Year come in, in Miami, was Latin celebrants shooting guns upwards - and having falling bullets hit innocent bystanders! (Luckily, the police saw to it that it didn't occur on December 31, 1999!)
