If you ever watched "Stranger than Fiction", how the author of the story-within-the-film has to come to terms with reality while struggling to write the fate of her characters, I'm sure that's just how Paru Itagaki feels about her own.
But I'm not without regard for the positives. The only redeeming detail I appreciate from Itagaki's work is the world-building she puts into it and how it alludes to the real-life dangers of social segregation. The Fox and the Hound (specifically the novel to which Disney adapted into a feature animation) does the same thing, but with one side (the foxes) resorting to reckless promiscuity, regardless of dire and unfavorable circumstances.
Now that I think of it, maybe that's what some characters in Beastars should resort to, if push came to shove.
But I'm not without regard for the positives. This is how I describe Beastars in a nutshell!
Haru = honest, forthright, sweet-natured, blunt and promiscuous
Juno = the cute, caring, cheerful yet possessive woman which may or may not go down the Yandere path
Legosi = The tall, quiet, awkward and naive heart-of-gold simp
Louis = The confident, attractively egotistical dude with a snarky attitude mixed with interesting emotional baggage
