When animals considered to be "prey" by the apex predators of the world begin to band together for safety, where does it leave those caught in between?
Namely, a pair of pine martens, carnivores and flesh-eaters themselves, but small enough to be considered food for the bears, wolves and gluttons of the forest and field. They're on a journey to seek sanctuary with the rabbits, squirrels and other prey that have gathered to Oren--but they don't know if welcome or condemnation will meet them.

it is messed up but they could grab carnivore cubs and raise them with their way of life, then you would quickly have a growing number of carnivores with your mindset (one day a big battle will take place those little ones could be good warriors or voices of peace) If other carnivores see others of their kind living in peace and have all they need without blood shed many would probably join on their own
I think no such thing is needed at all. Rask himself gave the answer to that conondrum already.
Just give a predator one thing and one thing alone. No fear of being constantly in danger of starving or being killed that day. Savety. That is why Rask could never return cause for the first time he felt safe (minus Hemlock of course).
The thing he, Oren and the other Prey now need to solve is how to feed predators without the Prey of the Hollow being on the food list.

Lets see how those cubs will react once they learn what happened to their parents.
Not a good idea, in that case you're better off killing both the parents, and the offspring.
It's preferable to avoid bloodshed if possible... and especially not go aroung doing such things.

One grows, the other walks away. Both have one thing in common but in an opposite way from each other, hope. One has hope in the future and wants to expand where the other doesn't have anything and there for wants to shut everything up and literally kill any kind of future that could have been.
And with that Rask is now the new Oren. He wants to change the MO of the World just like Oren did all those years ago.
Of course there now sits his biggest problem as well. How to make predators not instanly attack prey. But I have a feeling the ghost of Sprigg will be more than helpful on that. The squirrel after all made him see beyond their preconceptions.
