Taking an instant in his life, resting over the roof of his car, he admires the show presented to him by a sky dancer. Nothing to hear but the hissing of the air around the pure shape of the glider as it takes speed for its aerobatics.
This commssion has its little story behind it; originally, I have contacted Baron for an artistic liberty commission of my sona with my collection car, a 1985 Mitsubishi Lancer Fiore (actually a Mirage Fiore in Japan). But by the time it was my turn to come up on top of their to-do list, I was gone on a training stage to pass my advanced glider aerobatics qualification and had shared a few photos and my overexcitement to fly a true aerobatic glider on Twitter. For those who don't know, I've passed my basic glider aerobatics qualification three years ago, took part in national contests before to make a hiatus due to the pandemic and professional unstability, only to make my return in this field two weeks ago, flying on MDM-1 Fox aerobatic glider, aiming for tha advanced aerobatics qualification. Qualification that I successfully obtained after a few days of training and had to validate by doing my first solo flight on board of the Fox. And thus, only a few dozens minutes before I was to board alone in the aerobatic glider for what would also be my first solo aerobatic flight, as I was stressing out like never, having in a corner of my mind the bad reputation of the Fox, I noticed Baron had sent me the final version of the commission they did for me, which also happen to be the one presented to you here. When I commissionned them, I never mentionned that a glider had to be present, so it was a really great surprise to discover this piece, mostly when the glider in question looks like, to me, a Fox !
That might not look like much like that, but glider aerobatics, even though I can't practice it often, holds a very important place in my life and heart, I owe so much to this discipline and to the people related to glider arerobatics. So, discovering this piece really touched me and I'm so grateful to Baron for the job they've done !
The car presented here is, as written higher, a Mitusbishi Lancer or Mirage, whichever you prefer, Fiore, a front wheel drive sedan produced from 1983 to 1988. While the car might be common in India, Malaysia and some other countries, old Lancers are quite a rare sight in France due to a former law regulating the import of Japanese vehicules. Until the 1990s, France limited japanese car manufacturers to sell the equivalent of 5% of the number of new cars sold in the country the previous year. The reason ? French automobile market was very late compared to many others around the world. One has to realised that the Mirage (includes both Colt and Lancer) series in Japan included as standard, electric windows, electric rear-view mirrors, comfort and a ventilation system, if that doesn't sound too impressive for US readers, I'll now compare it with what was on the French production lines in the meantime; the Citröen 2cv and the Renault 4L. While it's two cars I really love as well, both were already 20 years old, had hinged front windows, basic rear-view mirrors, a flap under the windshield serves as the aeration and, let's not lie, comfort in these cars is quite derisory.
But by the 1990s, this law has been abandonned and Japanese car brands could finally settle in France. As an exemple, my Mitsubishi was imported in France by Porsche, as such, most pre-1990s Mitsubishi cars were sold and are still found in great metropolis such as Paris and Marseille... excepted for the Pajero. As of today, I only know of two other Lancer on the roads of France, one classical, without the "if-I-damage-them-I'm-dead" blinkers (yes, that's what the orange line on the wing actually is), and a Lancer 2000 Turbo, from the datas I've managed to get, there's less than a hundred exemples still on th road, over here.
Btw, if you or someone you know happen to have an Aisan 6 EN carburettor and don't know what to do with it, I'd be quite interested to take it off your hands. ^^'
Character belongs to me.

Thanks a lot, B! And yes, it's like fate wanted me to fly on that glider! ;P
Honnestly though, it carries its name quite well according to common belief; it's a vicious glider, generally nice to handle, it's the fighter jet of gliders, with a seemingly good behaviour but when you dig a bit in the glider history, it shows tendency to spin, flick roll and to enter in dangerous dynamic stalls (the profile of the wing masking the horizontal stabiliser) when pushed around. But overall, it really is a pleasure to fly.
