(PPS = pixels per second)
So I've been doing some test renders in POV-Ray, and I've thrown together this image to illustrate my horrible problem.
The first image is rendered with no radiosity, and as a result, takes about 2 minutes to render.
The second is rendered with PoseRay's Default radiosity setting, and takes around 25 minutes.
(Note that the first two have the same lighting.)
The third is rendered with an HDR lightmap, imported through poseray into 88 (!) different lights. I dont believe that it made any particular difference, however, I did render it with "Debug" rather than "Default", so it may be lower quality than it would have been.
If I were to render the same scene with the "Full" preset, it drops to around 20 pps
SO the question is, "Does the improved realism warrant the longer render times?"

I suppose it would depend on your purpose.
If you were making them for a high-quality film quality would come before render time.
however if you are making them for a game or you are doing them for personal pleasure and dont like to wait, Id say it looks just fine without the improvements :)
